Municipal Government
There are several bylaws and regulations set by the Village of Valemount in relation to rezoning, building permits, fire and health regulations, business licenses, etc. These bylaws, regulations, and the Official Community Plan may be obtained from the Village Office. Valemount is within the boundaries of the Regional District of Fraser Fort George and in electoral Area H.
The Regional District assists municipalities and electoral areas in providing additional administration services, financial services, and inspection services. The Regional District also provides some funding for community facilities, recreation services, fire protection, street lighting, TV broadcasting and arenas.
Incorporation
The Village of Valemount was incorporated in December 1962. The local government has an elected mayor and four councillors.

Elections and Council Meetings
Village elections are held every three years. The last elections were held on November 19, 2011. Council Meetings Village Council meetings are held at 7:00 P.M. the second and fourth Tuesday of each month.
Council meetings are also shown live on the local TV Channel 7 (VCTV). Council Agenda Any contributions to the agenda must be received by the Village Office by noon, Thursday, prior to the meeting.
