Village Office

The Corporation of the Village of Valemount is a recognized local government within the Province of British Columbia and was incorporated December 13, 1962. Valemount is one of 14 designated Resort Municipalities within BC.

The Village is governed by the executive arm of the local government, made up of a Mayor and four Councillors, who are voted to serve by the general public for a four year term. The administrative arm is managed by the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) who is appointed by the Village Council. The CAO takes direction from Council as resolved in Council meetings that are, except in certain prescribed situations, open to the public.

The Village delivers services to the public which include: water distribution, sewage treatment, garbage collection, and a host of regulatory services, all of which are paid for through property taxation and service fees.
